How has your life better now?
Holding a job for one, owning a business, and having much better control of my emotions. Chuck saved my life. I was very much into drugs, dealing and using. Spending time in prison, but now my life is so much better. Coaching kids, really brought my life around, and I am so proud now of how things are going on in my life. Things I could never have had, had I kept using drugs.
What did you loose from your drug use and did you get any of it back?
My time with my kids, I lost some of the most important time with them, I did not get a chance to watch them grow up. I also lost my sister in 2005 from my drug use, and that would have be the lowest point in my life. What did I get back? Simple, My kids. I am an infinitely better father now. I get to now watch them grow up, and be with them; I get to guide them, teach them, and learn from them.
Who is your support system?
My coach Chuck Horton or “Shark”, Zach Walters, and my athletes, even my kids in my gym, they keep me going, they are who support me, not to mention my family as well. I have an amazing support system that keeps me going in my sobriety. Yes, I owe it to many people and with out them, I doubt I would be where I am today.
Who led you to a sober life?
Chuck Horton backed me 120%. Zach Walters and the Jungle Boy gym, also to mention the community in the (Duluth) area, they get some of the credit as well. But like I said Chuck Horton is who saved my life. He was there for me when I needed someone the most, so I am very grateful for him.
What are your favorite traditions now that you’re sober?
Focusing on helping others, Coaching too! I love to coach, helping others make that positive change in their lives, that’s one of my favorite traditions. My gym is really heading in the right direction and it has some amazing people coming to train here. Thanks to my sobriety, my life as taken a 180 degree turn.
